DUNE SERIES CHARACTERS DUNE SERIES CHARACTERS 
I have listed here all of the major characters from all six Dune Books. To avoid confusion I have indicated (in parenthesis)which books the characters are in. Hope this doesn't confuse things more :-) At this time I do not have all of the characters up. The reason is it has been like two years since I have read a Dune book I'm embarrased to say..especially since it's one of my favorite series. This also explains why the descriptions aren't very detailed. Once I read the series and refamiliarize myself with the characters of ALL the books I will have more detailed descriptions! So keep checking back!

("Dune") Duke of Caladan. Father to Paul and Alia Atreides.
("Dune", "Children of Dune")Royal Concubine to Duke Leto. Mother of Paul and Alia Atreides. Bene Gesserit trained. Chose love of Leto over the Sisterhood.
ALIA ATREIDES("Dune", "Dune", "Children of Dune")Atreides heir. The Kwisatz Haderach (This is the label applied by the Bene Gesserit to the unknown for which they sought a genetic solution: a male Bene Gesserit whose organic mental powers would bridge space and time)
("Dune", "Dune Messiah", "Children of Dune") Alia was born in the dessert among the fremen. She was exposed to the concious expanding Water of Life before birth during the ceremony Jessica underwent to become a Reverend Mother among the Fremen, and because of it was born Aware.In essence she also became a reverend mother because all of the lives that Jessica absorbed from past Reverend Mothers was passed to her as well. Because she was pre-born Alia was the object of wariness as much as an object of adoration. The Bene Gesserit called her Abomination.

THUFIR HAWAT(appears in all of the books. The last five he has appeared as a ghola of the original Idaho. A ghola is a body that has been regrown from cells and has the memories of the original)
THE FREMEN("Dune", "Dune Messiah", "Children of Dune")Fremen Leader of Sietch Tabr. Uncle to Chani.
("Dune", "Dune Messiah", and sorta kinda in "Children of Dune"...read the book and you'll see what I mean) A young Fremen. Concubine to Paul Atreides (who the Fremen call Usul, or Muad'Dib) Though Paul had to marry the Emperor's daughter Irulan to secure the throne it is Chani that he loves.
("Children of Dune", "God Emperor of Dune")Leto II is the son of Paul and Chani. He and his twin sister Ghanima were both born "Aware" but neither became an Abomination like Alia did. Later in his long life Leto II would become the God Emporer of Dune, but some viewed him as a tyrant.

THE CORRINOSEmperor of the Known Universe. Distaff cousin to Duke Leto.
("Dune", "Dune Messiah", "Children of Dune")Irulan is my favorite Dune Character. I don't know why. Maybe it's because she is a writer and recorder of histories (I also love to write-stories, journals, etc)who knows :-) Irulan is the eldest daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV of Planet Kaitain.(that's probably misspelled). Bene Gesserit trained, though not one of the most adept students Irulan did take great pleasure in her writings. She wrote countless histories and biographies, as well as plays and things. Irulan allowed herself to be used as a pawn by the Bene Gesserit. Paul married her to secure the throne. Theirs was a marriage of convenience (something she was trained for) and nothing more. Paul's love was reserved only for his beloved Chani. Irulan desperately wanted a child by Paul, but only because she wanted to give him an heir. She did not love him......at first. Only after Paul walked out into the desert to die (like all fremen who go blind and might slow down the tribe do) did she realize she loved Paul. Because she loved Paul she devoted her life to caring for his children (by Chani...though Leto II and Ghanima were "preborn" and hardly normal children). She chose to not remarry nor take a lover and thus she became known as the Virgin Queen.(Dune, Dune Messiah)Emperor Shaddam's Truthsayer. A Bene Gesserit.
THE HARKONNENS(Dune, sorta kinda in Children of Dune...once again:read the book to find out what I mean :-) )Baron on Giedi Prime. A fat, glutonous man with a penchant for young boys and a hate for all things Atreides.
(Dune)Sometimes called the Beast Rabban. The Baron's nephew.
(Dune)Baron's nephew. Feyd also shares his uncles hatred of the Atreides. Particularly of Paul Atreides
